Parent Resources

At Scoil Sinéad, we believe that parents are partners in education.
This page is designed to share ideas, insights, and tools to help families support their children’s learning and wellbeing at home.
It’s a growing space, we’ll continue adding more tips and guidance as we develop new workshops and resources across our schools.

“When home and school, work together, every child thrives.”

Supporting Learning at Home

Simple things make a significant difference.
You don’t need to be a teacher to help your child learn, just being interested, consistent, and encouraging is enough.

Practical Tips:

Learning happens everywhere, not only in school, but in every conversation and shared moment.

Helping Your Child Regulate Emotions

Emotional regulation is a big part of learning.
Children learn best when they feel safe, calm, and understood.

Try these simple steps:

This aligns with what we teach in Scoil Sinéad classrooms, that emotions are not “bad”; they are messages we learn to manage.

Working in Partnership with the School

We see parents and teachers as a team, sharing the same goal: your child’s growth and happiness.

You can help by:

Education works best when parents and teachers walk the journey together.

Understanding Inclusion and Neurodiversity

Scoil Sinéad schools celebrate differences.
If your child has additional needs or a diagnosis such as autism, ADHD, or speech and language challenges, you are not alone.
We work closely with families to create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and use evidence-based supports in school.

Here are some ways you can support at home:

If you ever need guidance or information about supports, talk to your school’s Special Education Teacher or Principal, we are here to help.

You can also find links to Irish national parent supports such as the NCSE and National Parents Council when available.

Parenting Insights – Coming Soon

At Scoil Sinéad, we know that supporting children starts with supporting parents.

Our Parenting Insights section is being developed as a growing hub of guidance and reflection for families, a place where you can find practical advice, calm strategies, and meaningful encouragement as you guide your child’s journey.

This space will feature insights drawn from real classrooms, family experiences, and our ongoing collaboration with Resilient Essence, a parenting and education platform founded by Sherene Powell-Okafor.

Through Resilient Essence, families can explore conversations on inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and calm parenting, with new videos and talks shared regularly.

Coming Soon: Parent Workshops & Training

At Scoil Sinéad, we believe that education is a partnership between school and home.

Our Parent Workshops & Training series is designed to strengthen that partnership, giving parents and guardians the confidence, tools, and understanding to support their child’s learning and wellbeing in everyday life.

These sessions are being developed in collaboration with our Resilient Essence platform and the wider HOPE network, combining classroom experience, inclusive teaching strategies, and calm parenting approaches that work in real homes.

“When parents grow in understanding, children grow in confidence.”

What to Expect

Our upcoming workshops will be interactive, accessible, and grounded in the same compassionate philosophy that guides our schools.

They will include practical examples, simple take-home tools, and space for reflection and discussion.

Topics in development include:

Each session will be offered both in person and online, ensuring that families from all Scoil Sinéad schools, and beyond, can participate.

Powered by Resilient Essence

In partnership with Resilient Essence, these workshops will be complemented by short videos, reflective posts, and calm-parenting insights from Sherene Powell-Okafor.

The goal is to make support available whenever parents need it, not just during workshops, but throughout the year.

“Our job as educators is to empower parents, because strong families build resilient children.”

Get Involved

We’ll share upcoming dates and registration links for workshops here and through your school’s newsletter.

If you have ideas or topics you’d like to see covered, please contact us, we welcome parent voices and suggestions.

Our goal is simple: to make learning a partnership, between school, home, and heart.

We’ll continue growing this page with resources that reflect the Scoil Sinéad ethos, practical, compassionate, and inclusive. Each workshop will be delivered by experienced Scoil Sinéad educators and guest specialists from the HOPE network and Resilient Essence platform.
